An Insight Into the Stunning Interiors of 41.9m KASIF for the First Time

By Frances Flannagan

Hitting the water in August last year, KASIF is a stunning explorer vessel from Turkish shipyard giant, Bilgin Yachts. Despite first being showcased to the industry at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show, KASIF's interiors have remained relatively secretive: until now. From a stunningly warm colour palette to iconic custom decorations, Italian design studio Hot Lab has created interiors onboard that beautifully reflect KASIF's unwavering connection to marine life, highlighting her unsurprising popularity.

41.9m KASIF is a beautiful combination of graceful yet purposeful styling with impressive hull efficiency: a true explorer vessel as she offers a 5,000+ nm range at her economical cruising speed. She features the engineering and shipbuilding prowess of Bilgin Yachts and Unique Yacht Design, with her highly experienced Owners staying central to the project, showcasing a perfect example of complementary collaboration.

Italian design studio Hot Lab was approached to pen her interior design, of which the team excelled at creating an interior that perfectly reflected the Owners’ strong ideas for an aesthetic design.

Enrico Lumini, Partner & Head of Design at Hot Lab, commented: ‘The entire family is strictly related to the sea and the maritime world, and while the husband oversaw most of the technical matters, his wife collaborated closely with us in creating such a beautiful vessel. Of course, both have influenced us in the design in different ways, but their ideas and support have been crucial for the end result.’

Built to serve a dual purpose, KASIF has also been designed with the Owner's offshore farming business in mind, needing to be rugged but also safe to enable travel to their farms. Her hull is a stand-out feature of her design, inspired by the acclaimed 80m series, as it not only enhances efficiency but minimises fuel consumption whilst reaching impressive speeds.

Hot Lab took the Owners’ compelling and challenging brief and translated it into a stunning design alongside the teams at Bilgin Yachts and Unique Yacht Design, resulting in a cohesive and collaborative process that has led to exceptional final results.

Lumini commented: ‘Our interpretation of the owners’ wishes was for a modern, almost contemporary style both in the geometries and also the materials, but at the same time full of elements that could recall the interests and activities of the owners. We have also tried to modulate the design in such a way that each deck recalls the same style, but at the same time with different elements that are capable of recalling different moods.’

KASIF's deck features an explorer-style profile with interior volumes pushed further forward, the interior guest areas divided into three zones rising across the three decks. The lower deck is home to the guest accommodation, configured as a large VIP cabin, two other VIP cabins and two twin cabins. The main saloon and dining area can be found one deck up, whilst the upper deck includes a second saloon area and an Owners’ office.

Hot Lab created an interior that features the same core elements through each of the three decks, whilst using variations in style to emphasise colours to attribute each deck its own personality.

Lumini commented on the colour palette throughout the vessel: ‘We started from the use of pastel colours for the cabins on the lower deck, obtained through the use of dyed wood… We then used a burgundy colour for the main saloon, both for the entrance arch and as the main colour of the lacquered surfaces of the furniture, and finally for the upper deck saloon and owners’ office we slide into a more masculine shade.’

The furniture and signature features have been designed to complement the interior style and to exude a connection to all-things-marine. This can be seen in a number of extraordinary elements, including the circular lighting feature on the bulkhead forward of the dining table, designed by Paolo Castelli. Lumini added: ‘The main idea was to recall the sea, as with the theme of the yacht, and the piece represents a school of fish swimming together simultaneously.’

A strong connection to the sea is continued throughout the yacht, seen in the artwork found in the beach club, which is reminiscent of a wave, and a unique sea motif in the yacht’s entrance, which Lumini commented on: ‘We created a 3D very abstract version of a big oceanic fish and made it fully lacquered in a special glossy purple colour with Pirarucu leather in its inner inserts… I think that’s something quite special and quite hard to find somewhere else!’

All of the furniture onboard is specifically designed by the studio, customised per the Owners’ requests and in careful cohesion with the overall interior design theme.

KASIF has become iconic; both in her exterior styling and engineering, and her stunning interiors. She represents not only the expertise of Hot Lab, but also the harmonious collaboration of all of the companies and Owners behind this spectacular project.
